Newsletter - August 2026

Welcome to our August newsletter!

A big thank you to everyone who supported our annual Gift Day on Sunday 5 July and to those who worked so hard to make it possible. The church was once again bedecked with bunting and inside were a variety of wonderful vases of natural flowers, all hand-arranged (without oases, which are damaging to the environment). Those who supported us were able to enjoy a variety of stalls, games and competitions, as well as some delicious cake. In all, we raised over £1,160, which will go to supporting our ministry and the upkeep of our buildings.

The summer holidays provide a chance for a change in routine and hopefully some time for relaxation and recreation. I hope that you are all able to benefit from some downtime and the chance to spend a bit more time with those you love.

Before the holidays began, we enjoyed our last First Steps session of the academic year, and bid farewell to some of our favourite little people who will be starting school in September. We shall miss them and wish them well. First Steps resumes on Friday 11th September at 10.30am.

As many of you know, we are indebted to the “Holy Dusters” who dust and polish all the pews and woodwork in church once a month. We are appealing for new volunteers to join this small group. If you are able to help on a Saturday morning once a month, please do let me know.

On 17th July, there was a special service at Southwark Cathedral to give thanks for the leadership and ministry of the Bishop of Southwark, the Right Reverend Christopher Chessun. We all give thanks for all he has given to the Diocese over many years, and pray he will have a long and happy retirement. Please join us in praying for Bishop Rosemarie, who becomes acting Bishop of Southwark until the next Bishop of Southwark is appointed.
