Welcome to our November newsletter!
It was great to see the church so full for our Harvest Festival at the beginning of October. Once again we were joined by the 4th Reigate Brownies. The church was beautifully decorated by Sarah Reader, using flowers and vegetables grown on her allotment. As in previous years, we collected donations of groceries for the Foodbank at St Matthew’s Redhill, and we were delighted by the generosity of our congregation and the Brownies.
During half-term we were delighted to host the wedding of Georgia and Jack. Georgia is the granddaughter of Doreen Warren, who has been coming to St Philip’s for many, many years. Surprisingly, this was the first wedding Doreen has attended in the church, and she looked resplendent in emerald green. Georgia and Jack have been coming to St Philip’s since the beginning of the year and have both joined the Readers’ rota. We wish them a long and happy marriage.
Our Tuesday Coffee Mornings are currently running on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month, in the Church Hall, from 10.30-11.30am. November dates are 10th and 24th. We are delighted that from January, these will once again become weekly.
Our new Home Group is now meeting weekly in the Parsonage, every Wednesday evening from 7.30-9pm. It’s a small but committed group and we’re enjoying working our way through the Gospel of Mark. If you’re interested in coming, please let Lindsay know. (07780 144448).
This month our First Steps group, for toddlers and their parents/carers, is meeting a week early, on Friday 6th November at 10.30am.
Our Remembrance Day service will be on Sunday 8th November at 10am. All are welcome to join us as we remember those who have given their lives for our country in the two World Wars and subsequent conflicts. We will be observing the two-minute silence at the end of the service.
Finally, we have a garage available to rent behind the church. If you are interested, please contact Mary Kirkup at: marykirkup.work@gmail.com
