St Philip’s Newsletter – June 2026

Welcome to our June newsletter!

The highlight of May was a visit to the parish by Bishop Rosemarie and Vernia, the Diocesan Communications Officer. This was part of Southwark Diocese’s “Parish Conversations” initiative, where the Bishop and members of the Diocesan staff team visit parishes to understand firsthand the joys, challenges, concerns and opportunities they’re grappling with and to offer support and guidance, where needed.

The Bishop spent time with the Vicar and Churchwardens and then enjoyed a lively visit with the 4th Reigate Brownies. +Rosemarie enjoyed meeting the girls, answered lots of questions and heard some of the songs they had written about values. All of the songs had actions, so any passers-by might have been surprised to find a Bishop, Vicar, Churchwardens and all the Brownies jumping and hopping around the Church Hall! This was followed by a buffet supper with representatives of the PCC and the many ministries here at St Philip’s.

Preparations are now underway for the return of our annual Quiz Night, a very popular opportunity to come together and raise much-needed funds. This year, it will be on Saturday 20th June. The doors open at 7pm and the Quiz starts promptly at 7.30pm. The entry fee is £6 per head and we are open to teams of 2-8 members. To join the fun, please book your place by Sunday 12th June by contacting Lindsay (vicarspr@gmail.com or 07780 144448). There will be a bar available, or you’re welcome to bring your own drinks and snacks. We are very grateful to our skilled host and quiz master, Roger Hillier, for making the event possible.

Finally, we are seeking new members of our Holy Dusters team. If you’re free on the morning of the first Wednesday of each month and can come and help polish the pews, Lindsay would love to hear from you.
