Newsletter - December 2025
We were delighted to welcome both Brownies and Rainbows to our Remembrance Day service, when we remembered and gave thanks for all those who gave their lives for the freedoms we so easily take for granted. We prayed not only for those who paid the ultimate sacrifice but also for those serving in our armed forces today. We were grateful to the Brownies for making cardboard poppy wreaths which we placed in the front of the altar.
Those of you who live within earshot of the church will have noticed that our bell, which we ring to indicate the start of our Sunday services, has fallen silent. Unfortunately, the bell rope, which is goodness only knows how many years old, finally gave way. We are investigating whether it can be replaced but it will be a complex operation, as the bell is situated in the centre of the roof, and the bell pull hangs beside the front entrance. Access to both is extremely high up and will no doubt necessitate internal scaffolding for the job to be done safely, so this may well take considerable time.
Our Music Group is now busy rehearsing for our Christmas Services and at the time of writing our Carol Service is less than 2 weeks away! We are grateful to the volunteers who are delivering details of Christmas services to every home in the parish. We very much hope to see you in church over Christmas, where you can be assured of a warm welcome.
