Our annual Gift Day on Sunday 6 July was a great success!
We woke to grey skies but were very blessed in that the torrential rain waited until after the event had finished and we had cleared away – alleluia!
There was a fantastic turnout of volunteers and supporters and a real buzz in the Church Hall, which housed cake, strawberries, Pimm’s and other refreshments as well as a tombola and a number of stalls. More games, including the ever popular hook-a-duck were available outside. The church was open, beautifully bedecked with flower arrangements, with music playing to draw visitors in.
It was great to see the whole church family come together to raise much needed funds. I’m delighted to report that £1458 was raised in total, which will go towards the installation of a new boiler in the Church Hall.
Although we’re now in mid-summer we are already looking ahead to the colder months as this winter we will be joining the Renewed Hope Winter Night Shelter as a venue. On four Thursdays in February we will be welcoming a number of guests who would otherwise be sleeping rough. They’ll enjoy a hot meal, a safe night’s sleep and breakfast. We are looking for someone to undertake the voluntary role of Venue Co-ordinator, which can be shared. If you’re interested or would like more information, please contact me at vicarspr@gmail.com
Starting in September, we will be running a course for those who would like to be confirmed by Bishop Rosemarie in an evening service at St Mark’s Reigate on Sunday 19th October. If you’re interested in coming along please do get in touch. The group is also suitable for those who simply wish to learn a little more about the Christian faith.
Our First Steps groups for toddlers and their parents and carers is taking a summer break but will resume on Friday 12th September, at the usual time of 10.30am.
Enjoy the holidays!
